MARETH | COLLEEN is a small business based in Woodstock, Cape Town founded by Colleen Lesch and Mareth van der Walt.
We love effortless clothes that celebrate the female figure - bonus points if it's locally manufactured (yay for smaller carbon footprints and boosting the local economy!) and it's simple and stylish enough to last beyond the current season. Our friends do as well.
So that's exactly what we make under the MARETH | COLLEEN label - beautifully designed garments that are hand-cut and stitched one at a time by a small (and we do meantiny) group of South African artisans. In fact, when you shrug on your favourite MARETH | COLLEEN dress, bomber jacket, coat or jumpsuit, you can rest assured that we are probably doing the same. After all, if you’re not making the clothes you want to wear, what on earth are you doing?
We like our stuff to last, and we’re sure you do too. So, although our designs often ebb along the same waves as emerging global fashion trends, you will always find that it’s been interpreted in a way that will take it beyond the current season so you can enjoy your well-made MARETH | COLLEEN closet staple for many years, decades, perhaps generations (hey, we can dream) to come.
And that’s the spiel ladies and gents. We make clothes because we love beautiful, well-made things - it’s as simple as that. We hope you enjoy wearing your MARETH | COLLEEN garments as much as we enjoyed dreaming (and stitching) it into being. Go out and make some epic memories in it - we double dare you!
Our new menswear collection exudes effortless elegance through our use of natural fabrics and a refined colour palette. This thoughtfully curated range features linens, viscose, rayon, cotton, and fabrics with a cashmere-like feel, all chosen for their superior comfort and breathability.
The collection embraces a natural color palette, with hues that evoke a sense of calm and sophistication—soft beiges, earthy browns, and gentle vanillas. Each piece is designed to seamlessly integrate into a modern wardrobe, offering versatile options for both casual and semi-formal settings.
Purr's decision to expand into menswear stems from a growing recognition of the need for comprehensive, inclusive fashion offerings. Initially we are celebrated for our women’s wear, however, we acknowledged that many of our patrons also seek high-quality, natural fabric clothing for men. This new menswear collection reflects our commitment to meeting this demand while maintaining the same emphasis on comfort, style, and sustainability that has defined our brand.
Merwe Mode was created by Deeva van der Merwe. The brand was officially launched in August 2014 at Boston Society concept store in Long Street Cape Town. Influenced by visual elements, clean lines and subtle details, with a strong androgynous theme in their work.
Our vision is to share our passion and skill of this trade, becoming a local employer producing top quality tailoring for the South African market, with a focus on creating opportunities for the woman and men in Cape Town that makes fashion their trade.
The millecollines journey began in Barcelona, Spain with founders Ines Cuatrecasas and Marc Oliver. Fashion designers by training, the two were eager to engage in something bold, creative and adventurous.
A 2008 trip to Rwanda and an introduction to Antoinette, a local dressmaker ultimately led to Ines and Marc moving to Kigali where they developed their first collection in partnership with Antoinette.
A year later, millecollines was born.
Millecollines seamlessly blends the creativity, strength and culture of the African spirit with ever evolving global fashion trends.
ORA was launched in 2015 by Natasha Collins. She wanted to create pieces that were elegant, affordable, easy-to-wear and maintain - whilst preserving her integrity as a designer and a goldsmith.
Natasha’s goal was to share her passion, and what brings her joy, with as many women as possible - in the hopes of inspiring them to share theirs too!
Armed with a clear vision when she designs, Natasha draws on the wisdom of her past to create magic in the present moment.
This creative process led her to the name ORA, which means NOW in Italian.
